Outdoor advertising and ad bike campaigns in Cambridge
The Bike Ads’ Cambridge experience includes college promotion and student accommodation activity. These campaigns used local deployment plans to connect a message with the places and times where it was relevant.
Prepare your brief
For a new brief, we can arrange ad bikes, human billboards, promotional staff and digital ad vans, as well as wider outdoor placements through media owners and specialist partners. The choice should reflect the audience and the next step you want people to take.
Cambridge Regional College: a plan across two days
Cambridge Regional College’s activity on 22 and 23 August 2019 used 15 ad bikes per day. The plans allocated bikes to locations in Cambridge and surrounding communities, with the second day’s activity also covering Huntingdon.
Reported questions concerned courses, campuses, enrolment, apprenticeships and adult learning. This gives the case a practical lesson for education briefs: the display should connect people to the right information, while the operating team needs a clear way to direct more detailed questions.

Nido: student accommodation needs a different next step
The Nido Collection used one staffed ad bike in Cambridge on 9 June 2018. The location plan focused on Anglia Ruskin University and student areas, with the campaign promoting Nido Castle Hill accommodation.
Although education and accommodation campaigns can involve similar areas, their objectives differ. A college brief may direct someone towards admissions advice; an accommodation brief should lead to current property information, availability or an enquiry route.
Make the location plan specific
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to compare every column.
| Brief question | Detail to provide |
|---|---|
| Which audience? | Prospective students, residents, visitors or another clearly described group |
| Which destination? | The college, property, store, event or information page the campaign supports |
| Which places matter? | Priority postcodes, streets and agreed positions, with any access requirements |
| Which time matters? | Event times, operating hours, key dates and any changing message |
| What happens next? | A current landing page, enquiry route, event information or approved staff instruction |
Use a separate schedule if different teams or days need different locations. Do not assume every part of the surrounding area can be covered within the same short session. The proposal should distinguish operating time from transfers and other logistics.
Choosing between street activity and wider media
Ad bikes, human billboards and promotional staff can be briefed around specific local tasks. Digital ad vans need suitable road routes and stopping positions. Fixed billboards, digital screens and transport media depend on the available sites or packages for the dates.
For all formats, agree artwork responsibilities, current offer details, access arrangements and the report you need afterwards. Campaign photographs and delivery records help assess execution; admissions, viewings and bookings need the advertiser’s own response data.
